Somebody on the forum (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5186602.html) had a problem with finding the SQL create scripts. Turns out the ebuild mentions a .gz file where in fact it is a .bz2 file. Possibly relevant for other snort ebuilds as well.

New ebuild at bug #245752 should resolve this issue

There is a new ebuild for snort-2.8.4 at the following bug...

bug#266288

This ebuild resolves this issue. Please close this bug.
