I am unable to emerge media-gfx/hugin-0.7.0_rc2 because it depends on media-libs/libpano13 and >=media-gfx/enblend-3.0_p20080807 which are hard masked. If I add =media-gfx/hugin-0.7.0_rc2 to /etc/portage/package.mask then portage still insist on emerging it. My only recourse is to add the other two packages to /etc/portage/package.unmask or completely unmerge hugin.

Sorry, my mistake. I had hugin in my /etc/portage/package.unmask.
