please add emerge --info, rpm2cpio isn't in portage so I fail to see why it would complain. I'm using paludis, but here's the emerge --info anyway: Portage 2.1.4.4 (default/linux/x86/2008.0, gcc-4.2.4, glibc-2.6.1-r0, 2.6.25-gentoo-r7 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.25-gentoo-r7 i686 Genuine Intel(R) CPU T2400 @ 1.83GHz Timestamp of tree: Sun, 10 Aug 2008 06:30:01 +0000 ccache version 2.4 [enabled] app-shells/bash: 3.2_p33 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.6 dev-lang/python: 2.3.6-r6, 2.4.4-r14, 2.5.2-r7 dev-util/ccache: 2.4-r7 sys-apps/baselayout: 2.0.0 sys-apps/openrc: 0.2.5 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r2 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/gentoo-release /etc/php/apache2-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cgi-php5/ext-active/ /etc/php/cli-php5/ext-active/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/splash /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=pentium-m -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://distfiles.gentoo.org http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/gentoo" LANG="en_US.utf8" LC_ALL="en_US.utf8" LDFLAGS="-Wl,-O1" MAKEOPTS="-j5" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/portage/local/layman/java-overlay /usr/portage/local/layman/gentopia" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X a52 aac acl acpi aiglx alsa artworkextra beagle berkdb bluetooth bonobo bzip2 cairo cdr cli cpudetect cracklib crypt cups dbus dri dvd dvdr dvdread encode evdev ffmpeg firefox flac fortran gdbm gif gnome gnome-print gpm gstreamer gtk gtkhtml hal hbci iconv ipv6 isdnlog java jpeg lame lzo mad midi mmx mmxext mono motif mozbranding mp3 mpeg mplayer mudflap mysql ncurses network nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin odbc ogg opengl openmp openssl oss pam pcmcia pcre perl png pppd python qt3 quicktime quotes rar readline real reflection samba sdl sensord session spell spl sse sse2 ssl svg sysfs syslog tcpd theora threads tiff truetype unicode usb vorbis widescreen win32codecs x86 xorg xv xvid zlib" ALSA_CARDS="hda-intel" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mmap_emul mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic authn_alias authn_anon authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation rewrite setenvif speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse synaptics" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="i810 vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS Thank you, Installing beecrypt solved my inabilty to unpack pygobject as well. portage 2.2_rc8 rpm2targz-9.0.0.1g (new gentoo install, xwindows is not finished emerging and links doesn't seem friendly to cut and paste so I'll post full emerge info later if needed.) /usr/bin/rpm2cpio (provided by app-arch/rpm) is used if it exists in /usr/portage/eclass/rpm.eclass please read the eclass for more information. This seems like some kind of strange deal where app-arch/rpm fails to pull in beecrypt (or there's an library version bump, but it looks like beecrypt hasn't changed lately). It affects both portage and paludis users so it doesn't appear paludis-specific. Reassigning to people who have touched app-arch/rpm lately. Reassigning app-arch/rpm bugs to Stanislav Ochotnicky as I see him in the metadata.xml. Hi Stanislav welcome aboard :) (In reply to comment #0) > pyxf86config will not extract without beecrypt installed, and does not pull > beecrypt in as a dep. > Error given: > Unpacking pyxf86config-0.3.34-1.fc8.src.rpm to > /var/tmp/paludis/dev-python-pyxf86config-0.3.34-r1/work > rpm2cpio: error while loading shared libraries: libbeecrypt.so.6: cannot open > shared object file: No such file or directory > cpio: premature end of archive Ok, this is normal because beecrypt was not installed... > Installing beecrypt fixes this problem Now...what happens if you unmerge beecrypt and rpm and try to install rpm again? Does it pull beecrypt then? Knowing exact version of rpm you are using would be useful too, because I am yet to clean up some old versions lying around. Fresh load of yummy bugs :-) (In reply to comment #7) > (In reply to comment #0) > > Installing beecrypt fixes this problem > > Now...what happens if you unmerge beecrypt and rpm and try to install rpm > again? Hmm, ok...This looks quite weird. I'll look into it in a few days. Hopefully I'll find a reason this happens. rpm build system has a few rough edges... tracked at https://bugs.launchpad.net/rpm/+bug/634195 *** Bug 306621 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** We did a cleanup of older app-arch/rpm versions. Oldest is now 4.9.1.3, please update and if you can still reproduce feel free to reopen. |
