Description Luke-Jr 2003-06-24 21:23:51 UTC
genkernel hangs while creating initrd. if further details are neccesary, try it locally. It
seems to happen on every system, at the moment. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll
get details.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

I believe you need to set BOOT_SPLASH_INITRD to something in the file /etc/kernels/settings.

I chose to install bootsplash (emerge bootsplash) and used the following:
BOOT_SPLASH_INITRD="/usr/share/bootsplash/initrd-1280x1024"

I do agree that some kind of error checking would be nice here.

luke, i cannot reproduce this, and others cant either.
Youll need to send me the command your using.
Also docs are being written now.
Comment 3 Luke-Jr 2003-07-15 18:59:58 UTC
It's probably the variable humillo suggested. I had no idea I had to set one.
Comment 4 John Davis (zhen) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-10-22 20:42:05 UTC
it was probably the variable - if you check /var/log/genkernel.log, you will
see if our suspicions are true. The version in CVS handles the errors correctly,
so the next release will fix this.

closing, since this problem should be fixed in cvs
