Description jason andrade 2003-06-24 17:18:43 UTC
Hi,

I've been informed that the addresses for rsync1.au.gentoo.org are A records which
are pointing to 203.16.234.28. unfortunately we have had to move services locally
onto a new machine with a different ip#. This is why i'd requested that
delegations be CNAMEs instead :-/

Would it please be possible to assign rsync1.au.gentoo.org and associated other
delegations as a CNAME to rsync-gentoo.planetmirror.com

regards,

-jason

I've created rsync1.au.gentoo.org as a CNAME as requested. Unfortunately, the DNS RFS (and thus, our DNS software) doesn't support the use of CNAMES in round robin rotations, which we rely upon for our rsync rotations.

For now, I've changed the IP addresses to 203.16.234.26 which I believe is the correct IP address.

thanks.

can you also check to see if rsync.au.gentoo.org and rsync.asia.gentoo.org are
all also pointing to the correct ip# ?

lastly, at one stage we used to be in the global rsync.gentoo.org space but seemed
to have dropped out of that.. i'm happy not to go back in if you think that people are using the above addresses in preference..

-jason
