most websites (with a few exceptions, such as bugs.gentoo.org) can't be bookmarked in firefox-bin in any way (whether through the menu, Ctrl-D, or the star)

Reproducible: Sometimes

Actual Results:  
nothing. browser acts as if nothing has happened


Expected Results:  
bookmarks window should show, allowing me to create a bookmark

i'm currently sharing a profile with 64-bit firefox, if that makes any difference.
bookmarking is unresponsive on most sites, with a few exceptions (this site being one of them)

Please post your `emerge --info' and `emerge -vp www-client/mozilla-firefox-bin'.

Try with a clean profile

using a new profile seems to have solved the problem

in the process firefox decided something was wrong with the old profile and now all of my old bookmarks are gone

Well, a new profile means all your prefs and stuff are gone.

We can't fix this, as its a profile issue.
