Description Christophe ROY 2003-06-24 10:08:12 UTC
Launching the Gentoo 1.4rc4 install CD, i type gentoo as kernel to load,
select my keyboard, and let the installation do its job. Then it detects my
CPU, does the hardware detection (up to 100%), and then, nothing, system
lockup, no HD access nor CDROM access, Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work, but NumLock
works (not usual for a crash). I just have to do reset on my computer.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start installation, selecting gentoo
2. Choose 80*25 for display
3. Choose fr keyboard
4. Wait. After the hardware detection, it seems crashed

Actual Results:
Crash. No access on HD nor CD. No Ctrl-Alt-Del

Expected Results:
Continue the installation!

Can't go up to a console, so can't paste emerge info.
My system:
Motherboard Asus A7N266-C with latest bios (nForce 415-D)
CPU Athlon XP 2000+
Ram: Mushkin PC2100 256MB + Kingston PC2100 256MB
Graphic Card: based on GeForce 4 Ti4200 with AGP 8x, with 128MB on it.
HD: IBM 120GXP 80GB and Maxtor 40GB
Sound: SB Live 5.1
Network: 3com 3c905TX 100mb

Can you try a 1.4_final cd and let me know how it works? it should work fine.
Comment 2 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-11-24 03:23:55 UTC
please test with 1.4 final
Comment 3 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:24:25 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
