dev-util/subversion-1.5.0 uses --without-jikes
Is there any reason this is hard coded in, and not a use flag (or something)?

Java team:

Are there any advantages in the use of jikes instead of javac?
Do you recommend supporting jikes?

jikes isn't maintained upstream any more so I don't see a reason of mandating every ebuild being tested/supported by jikes. It also fails to compile a bunch of stuff. If you want to support jikes, use GENTOO_COMPILER.
