As discussed with zmedico in #gentoo-portage, the conclusion of the conversation was that dodoc should not compress pdfs because most pdf readers cannot handle compressed pdfs AND the benefit of compressing pdfs is not that great (compression ratio).

The motivation behind this is easier ebuild writing. To get this desired behavior now, ebuild writers have to do something like: "insinto /usr/share/doc/${P}; doins *.pdf" etc and make sure that they DO NOT "dodoc *.pdf" (which may mean alot of time/effort)
