This seems to be an very outdated box with this old Portage version. Please update it ASAP. May it be that you didn't run perl-cleaner script after updating Perl, as the post install message told you? OK, I did both and now it works... Re. your comment on Perl telling me to run something after an upgrade - this probably got lost during the long tail of emerges (it has been some time since I upgraded Perl...) Though probably not related to this bug, if this thing is REQUIRED as it BREAKS things, maybe emerge should automatically run this by itself upon upgrading of Perl... (In reply to comment #2) > Re. your comment on Perl telling me to run something after an upgrade - this > probably got lost during the long tail of emerges (it has been some time since > I upgraded Perl...) Not an excuse anymore. Portage reiterates the messages at the end by default and you can configure the elog feature to your liking. See e.g. /etc/make.conf.example. > Though probably not related to this bug, if this thing is REQUIRED as it BREAKS > things, maybe emerge should automatically run this by itself upon upgrading of > Perl... > Portage can't call itself. There's a whole slew of changes needed to make Portage work more transparently, correctly and gracefully. See also bug 155723. |
