Bug 232149 – sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.25-r6 freezes after sysctl and probably while loading modules

Hi,
I tried to update my kernel to 2.6.25-r6 with gentoo-sources and it freeze on
*sysctl

I use a dell laptop inspiron 6400 on x86 with openrc.
I use actually a 2.6.24-r8 patched with tuxonice.
I tried to build 2.6.25-r6 with and without tuxonice without success.
(tuxonice-sources prepatched don't work for me but that another thing)
So the .config i will send to you is made with tuxonice patched.
I did a make oldconfig as usual to build my kernel.

It seem to fail after sysctl when it try to load modules.

Hi,
after loading my modules manually one by one, it seem the culprit is
ipw3945. It seem to be an error of myself to try to load that module
because it build in kernel.
I don't know why it was working fine like that all this time on 2.6.24 ??
So i take off ipw3945 from /etc/conf.d/modules, reinstall all ipw3945?
And i have no error. :)
I also patch tuxonice with success.
Sorry for the noise.
I think that bug is fixed now.

Probably some sysctl value changed and needed to be incorporated in the external driver module. Re-emerging your external modules for new kernels is the norm, or should be. Happy hacking!
