Description Sebastian 2008-07-16 17:41:50 UTC
Hi all,

I'd like to see openoffice-bin to install a binary compiled by a Gentoo developer instead of the one from the official OOo website.

The fonts displayed by the OOo binary look terrible. When using the Gentoo openoffice binary they aren't perfect (fontconfig support isn't 100%) but they're much better still. I'll attach some screenshots.

If it's not too much trouble I'd really like this. I really don't like compiling this software myself because it just takes to long.

Kind regards
Sebastian

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compare fonts displayed by openoffice and compare them to the ones from openoffice-bin
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Fonts in openoffice-bin look much worse than the ones in openoffice

This is how the Gentoo-compiled binary displays fonts. Way better in my opinion.

Oh, this isn't just about the document fonts, have a look at the differences between the GUI fonts as well.

I hate to deal the "Ubuntu" card but I gotta say this ... their fonts look pretty good as well :-)

We do not provide binary packages.
