When java is installed postgresql cannot be installed, because it needs ant,
ok installed ant, then postgresql still had a problem, appearantly it also needs
sax stuff, so I installed saxon, still errrors it appearantly also needs
gnu_jaxp because otherwise ant doen't work.
Comment 1 Nico Baggus 2003-06-19 17:51:51 UTC
BTW, all versions the the most current as of june 16th 2003, emerge rsync.
For java that is Compaq-jdk 1.3.1 as that is the most current.
Comment 2 Adrian Almenar 2003-08-08 17:32:17 UTC
Can you please attach the output of 'emerge info'.

Thanks.

Nico, I don't grok what the bug is that you're reporting. And is it still a bug?
Comment 5 Aron Griffis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-01-14 13:28:30 UTC
Now that java is use-masked on alpha, and this bug is old and crufty, I'm closing it...
Comment 6 Nico Baggus 2004-01-14 15:18:42 UTC
agreed, I think it meant that other modules were also needed but not mentioned as DEPEND/RDEPEND (like saxon) which is assumed present because it assimulated in java 1.4+

B.T.W. recently java stopped working with a SEGSEGV when doing gettimeofday
Like in this strace... so it seems this the current end of life for java on alpha.

 kill(3747, SIGEMT) = 0
kill(3746, SIGEMT) = 0
