When sending mail with ssmtp-2.60.3 the from adress is either the user@host or what has been set in 
rewriteDomain even if FromLineOverride is set to YES. 

Reproducible: Always

This is most likely an upstream problem... but...

If you remove the rewriteDomain that applies... does the FromLineOverride work properly then?

No, that does not work either. I'll fill out a bugreport upstream.

Did you ever get a response from the upstream author?  I have another bug here about ssmtp and ssl which requires upstream attention as well. bug #25071 ;
