I wanted to upgrade app-i18n/scim-tables from 0.5.7 to 0.5.8 but emerge fails with:

Afterwards I just re-emerged 0.5.7 to verify that the problem doesn't exist there and there was no problem as expected.

It looks similar like bug #154337 (https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154337) but that's about app-i18n/skim-scim-anthy-0.9.0.1.

same problem here with app-i18n/scim-tables-0.5.8-r1 .
see bug 246649 from Jens Mueller.

I'm sorry. fixed in new scim-tables-0.5.8-r1. please test it.
