ASUS actually has their own linux driver pack for the nforce2 boards. If you go to the following URL and choose Linux, it'll become available: http://www.asus.com.tw/support/download/item.aspx?ModelName=A7N8X%20Deluxe Perhaps ASUS is doing something different for their boards, so you need their drivers? try disabling apic in bios, and boot with noapic The nforce-audio package works fine with this motherboard as does i810 kernel module The system still locks hard with APIC off in the BIOS, and the noapic kernel option. You're right that I can load the i810 driver (I've tested ALSA, not OSS). However, I can't get any sound out of the SPDIF, which is why I want the nvaudio driver working. SPDIF output won't work with standard drivers because it needs the ASUS driver. they did not follow nvidia reference guide for this part. this is why you need the ASUS driver on windows too, and not the usual/up to date nvidia driver. (something i read when i tried to make it work under W2K back in april) Actually, the newest nforce-audio package fixes this, and the audio works fine on my ASUS board. So yeah, I guess this bug is done. :) |
