This is the issue described in http://www.hellanzb.com/trac/hellanzb/ticket/393
I am attaching a patch that upstream so far hasn't applied/released. It works without problems for me (and others, as witnessed in the upstream bugreport). I recommend the patch to be applied in the ebuild.

there is another, more proper looking fix proposed in http://www.hellanzb.com/trac/hellanzb/ticket/393#comment:12
maybe we should apply this? because it doesn't look like upstream is in a hurry...
