Could you please modify apache-2.eclass to allow using of custom patches and configure options in apache overlay builds without the need for redefining whole apache-2_src_unpack and apache-2_src_compile functions?

custom variables with list of patches and configure options would be nice.

you can do all this without eclass modifications:
