Please let me know what version of sys-apps/file you are using. 4.24 ~amd64 $ /usr/bin/file --version file-4.24 magic file from /usr/share/misc/file/magic $ /usr/bin/file /usr/portage/distfiles/makeself-2.1.5.run /usr/portage/distfiles/makeself-2.1.5.run: POSIX shell script text executable Thanks, I should have known if I looked at your keywords. This is a known issue with file-4.24, sorry. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 219215 *** OK, works with sys-apps/file-4.23. Thanks. If 4.24 is broken, shouldn't be masked? (In reply to comment #6) > OK, works with sys-apps/file-4.23. Thanks. If 4.24 is broken, shouldn't be > masked? > IMO, no. ~ARCH packages are not guaranteed to work correctly. The risk you run with a ~ARCH system. Sorry for the troubles but I'm glad it was an easy fix for you =) (In reply to comment #7) > (In reply to comment #6) > > OK, works with sys-apps/file-4.23. Sorry for the troubles but I'm glad it was an easy fix for > you =) I forgot to add that this is a pretty easy fix (or appears to be) if you edit the "magic info file" See bug #215499 comment #3 *** Bug 225365 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** |
I've tried `sh /usr/portage/distfiles/makeself-2.1.5.run` and it unpacks, so something is wrong with 'unpack_makeself' in ebuild.
