Changed this to major, since I can't believe how something as simple as this doesn't work. I know this problem is upstream and not gentoo related, but gentoo has been relaxing the requirements for stabilization of packages too much. I wouldn't stumble on something like this two years ago. best regards Am I right to assume that we speak about Openoffice!? Please name the exact version of the software you're referring to, paste `emerge --info` output and reopen. Forgot about that, yes openoffice 2.4, compiled from sources. Portage 2.1.4.4 (default-linux/x86/2007.0/desktop, gcc-3.4.6, glibc-2.6.1-r0, 2.6.25-gentoo-r1 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.25-gentoo-r1 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5200+ Timestamp of tree: Fri, 30 May 2008 15:36:01 +0000 app-shells/bash: 3.2_p33 dev-java/java-config: 1.3.7, 2.1.6 dev-lang/python: 2.4.4-r13 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r6 sys-apps/baselayout: 1.12.11.1 sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.18.1-r2 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.61-r1 sys-devel/automake: 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2, 1.10.1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.18-r1 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.4.0-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.26 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.23-r3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=i686 -mtune=k8 -msse3 -mfpmath=sse" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/config /var/lib/hsqldb" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/fonts/fonts.conf /etc/gconf /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo /etc/texmf/web2c /etc/udev/rules.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -march=i686 -mtune=k8 -msse3 -mfpmath=sse" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="distlocks metadata-transfer parallel-fetch sandbox sfperms strict unmerge-orphans userfetch" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://darkstar.ist.utl.pt/pub/gentoo" LC_ALL="pt_PT@euro" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --stats --timeout=180 --exclude=/distfiles --exclude=/local --exclude=/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac acpi alsa arts artswrappersuid asf berkdb branding cairo cdr cli cpudetection cracklib crypt cups dbus divx dri dvd dvdr dvdread eds emboss encode evo fam firefox flac fortran gdbm gif gpm hal iconv ipv6 isdnlog jpeg kde kerberos ldap mad midi mikmod mmx mmxext mp3 mpeg mplayer mudflap ncurses nls nptl nptlonly nsplugin nvidia ogg opengl openmp oss pam pcre pdf perl png pppd python qt qt3 qt3support qt4 quicktime readline realmedia reflection samba sdl session spell spl sse sse2 ssl svg tcpd theora tiff truetype unicode userlocales utempter vcd vorbis win32codecs wmp x264 x86 xine xml xorg xv xvid xvmc zlib" ALSA_CARDS="cmipci ice1724" ALSA_PCM_PLUGINS="adpcm alaw asym copy dmix dshare dsnoop empty extplug file hooks iec958 ioplug ladspa lfloat linear meter mulaw multi null plug rate route share shm softvol" APACHE2_MODULES="actions alias auth_basic auth_digest authn_anon authn_dbd authn_dbm authn_default authn_file authz_dbm authz_default authz_groupfile authz_host authz_owner authz_user autoindex cache dav dav_fs dav_lock dbd deflate dir disk_cache env expires ext_filter file_cache filter headers ident imagemap include info log_config logio mem_cache mime mime_magic negotiation proxy proxy_ajp proxy_balancer proxy_connect proxy_http rewrite setenvif so speling status unique_id userdir usertrack vhost_alias" ELIBC="glibc" INPUT_DEVICES="keyboard mouse evdev" KERNEL="linux" LCD_DEVICES="bayrad cfontz cfontz633 glk hd44780 lb216 lcdm001 mtxorb ncurses text" USERLAND="GNU" VIDEO_CARDS="vesa" Unset: CPPFLAGS, CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LDFLAGS, LINGUAS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS, PORTAGE_COMPRESS_FLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS, PORTDIR_OVERLAY I assume you meant app-office/openoffice-2.4.0 since you are complaining about openoffice being marked stable. If not, I wonder what you mean by "compiled from sources" - app-office/openoffice usually means you compile your own during emerge. Could you post the output of emerge -vp app-office/openoffice too, please? The ebuild supports various toolkits, I think, and when it comes to painting errors, the GUI toolkit is quite relevant. yes, it was installed/compiled with emerge, instead of the app-office/openoffice-bin [ebuild R ] app-office/openoffice-2.4.0 USE="cups dbus eds firefox java kde ldap opengl pam -binfilter -debug -gnome -gstreamer -gtk -mono -odk -seamonkey -webdav -xulrunner" LINGUAS="-af -ar -as_IN -be_BY -bg -bn -br -bs -ca -cs -cy -da -de -dz -el -en -en_GB -en_US -en_ZA -eo -es -et -fa -fi -fr -ga -gl -gu_IN -he -hi_IN -hr -hu -it -ja -km -ko -ku -lt -lv -mk -ml_IN -mr_IN -nb -ne -nl -nn -nr -ns -or_IN -pa_IN -pl -pt -pt_BR -ru -rw -sh -sk -sl -sr -ss -st -sv -sw_TZ -ta_IN -te_IN -tg -th -ti_ER -tn -tr -ts -uk -ur_IN -ve -vi -xh -zh_CN -zh_TW -zu" 8,427 kB Do you still get that problem with more recent releases? 2.4.1 still doesn't work right, the latest stable version in Gentoo. Best regards Still exists in OO 3.0 If you still get this, could you please file a bug at https://bugzilla.novell.com which is the current upstream for ooo-build. At least 3.0 still has this. I will check in 3.1 and report upstream. Best regards |
