I have set "Python" as the default scripting language for qtiplot in "Scripting -> Scripting Language" and also in its Preferences (I use python 2.5.2-r4), but I see this strange behaviour when using qtiplot 0.9.6.2:

1) You launch qtiplot from a terminal or from a KDE menu entry.
2) You select the first column in Table1.
3) You go to "Table -> Set Column Values"
4) In the function pop-up menu the built-in "factor" function appears.

But, it you now do "File -> New -> New Project", and repeat steps 2-4, no "factor" function appears. The same is true when the program is open through a double-click on a .qti file (and yes, the .qti file has "python" defined as the scripting language), or when you open a file from "File -> Recent Projects".

By the way, the "factor" function is defined at the very end of /usr/lib64/python2.5/site-packages/qtiUtil.py

I contacted the author and he says he can't reproduce the bug (although somewhat less politely). You can read his answers in:
