Bug 223251

Summary: x11-libs/gksu: root terminal from gnome menu won't start
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Marc Arens <gentoo>
Component: [OLD] GNOMEAssignee: Gentoo Linux Gnome Desktop Team <gnome>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: minor
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Marc Arens 2008-05-22 19:44:55 UTC
Having installed:
gnome-light-2.20.3
gnome-terminal-2.18.4

and having set gnome terminal as default terminal via gnome System->Preferences->Default Applications menu

nothing happens when you try to start a root-terminal from the menu.

that's because in /usr/share/applications/gksu.desktop the line of the executable reads like "Exec=gksu /usr/bin/x-terminal-emulator" but x-terminal-emulator doesn't exist.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. click Applications -> Accesories -> Root Terminal
2.
3.

Actual Results:
No terminal starts up

Expected Results:
Root Terminal starts up

Easy workaround "ln -s /usr/bin/gnome-terminal /usr/bin/x-terminal-emulator"
