Another patch fixing the same crash can be found at http://patrick.wagstrom.net/git/grandr.git. Relevant bug in x.org bugzilla: http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13701 grandr does not work without the patch at my x86 system too. $ equery depgraph grandr | grep -v '^ *`' x11-apps/grandr-0.1: `-- x11-apps/grandr-0.1 `-- x11-libs/gtk+-2.12.8 `-- x11-libs/libXrender-0.9.2 `-- x11-libs/libX11-1.1.3 `-- x11-libs/libXcomposite-0.4.0 `-- x11-libs/libXdamage-1.1.1 `-- sys-devel/automake-1.7.9-r1 `-- app-vim/gtk-syntax-20060423 [ vim-syntax ] (In reply to comment #1) > Relevant bug in x.org bugzilla: > http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13701 This patch fixed my problem with grandr crashing after click on left panel on my x86. Same here (x86): grandr used to crash, but the patch fixes the problem. Honestly, it looks like grandr is dead. I think it was just a test app until other utilities caught up. I think I'll treeclean grandr if it really is unusable. If there's still interest in it, please get the patches applied by upstream with a new release. Until then, it'll stay as-is until I either p.mask it or bump it to a new release. Thanks I must agree here. To add more: recent enought GNOME already has it builtin, so most probably that's the reason why it's not maintained anymore (grandr). |
