Description Rui Carneiro 2008-05-18 05:02:13 UTC
I'm using the LiveCD, but is should affect everything which uses the same kernel...

I don't really know why, but when I first tried to boot 2008.0 B2 x86 LiveCD to install on my Laptop (LG LW65 Express, Centrino whatever chipset/Pentium M CPU), when the kernel is booted, the system is INIT'ed and then when the X starts with gdm (or kdm or xdm, I can't really see, because it instantaneously freezes), when you should hear an "beep", my laptop completely stops, making me to hard-shutdown the machine (Alt+BkSpc neither Alt+PrtScr REISUB work).

I know it's when it wants to beep, because, if I boot whith "nox" kernel parameter, it boots ok to the CLI, and if press Backspace (with nothing to backspace), which makes bash to "beep", my lappye freezes.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot the LiveCD
2. Wait to the kernel to fire up, wait for INIT
3. GDM wants to beep
4. ??????
4. PROFIT!!!

Actual Results:
System Crashes down to the bone, no actual profit.

Expected Results:
beeped and then, continue

Boot with noload=pcspkr and see if it makes a difference.
