When I run ifconfig for eth0 on a PPC KDE verdion of the LiveCD, I get this
error  SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.ifconfig eth0 IP_ADDR netmask NETM_ADDR up
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
eth0: unknown interface: No such device
Actual Results:  
Return to root shell prompt

Expected Results:  
Assigned an IP and netmask to the ethernet device.

what does plain 

"ifconfig eth0" 

give you? What computer is this happening on?

traced back the problem to a possible missing network driver in the livecd kernel.config. 

Next livecd will hopefully have this problem fixed

fixed on rc8 test-livecds, building new kde/gnome livecds - closing
