This update is fairly important since the older hibernate script doesn't work right with the newer tuxonice sources that are already in portage. See this email thread from the tuxonice site: http://lists.tuxonice.net/lurker/message/20080508.045326.bc7fcb39.en.html alonbl was retired (#147110), reassigning remaining bugs. *** Bug 227113 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** With the latest stable sys-kernel/tuxonice-sources-2.6.24-r9 and the stable hibernate-script-1.97-r4 I receive: hibernate: Filewriter image (/suspend_file) is unrecognised. hibernate: I'm not even going to attempt to use this file to suspend to. hibernate: Please erase the contents of the existing file if you believe it hibernate: to be safe, otherwise, please specify a new file. hibernate: Aborting. Even after erasing the existing file. Created attachment 156997 [details] sys-power/hibernate-script-1.99.ebuild I attach the full ebuild for convenience, but it is the 1.98.1 ebuild with a very very little patch: --- hibernate-script-1.98.1.ebuild 2008-04-05 17:58:10.000000000 +0200 +++ hibernate-script-1.99.ebuild 2008-06-15 23:45:28.331004873 +0200 @@ -9,7 +9,7 @@ DESCRIPTION="Hibernate script supporting multiple suspend methods" HOMEPAGE="http://www.tuxonice.net/" SRC_URI="http://www.tuxonice.net/downloads/all/${P}.tar.gz - mirror://gentoo/${P}-patches-${PATCH_VERSION}.tar.bz2" + mirror://gentoo/${PN}-1.98.1-patches-${PATCH_VERSION}.tar.bz2" The actual patchset (1.98.1) only contains a patch for the init.d script and it works with 1.99 too without any modification. It works for me. (In reply to comment #5) Obviously it works, it worked for me too as well, but the point, as stated in the initial bug post, is that I'm already running on baselayout2 aka openRc and the installation don't get installed for openrc but only for the old init as far as i can tell. In two to three weeks from now I'll have plenty of time, then I will try to get this one working on openrc as well if it's not already fixed by then. ;) What do you exactly mean with "the installation would only work for people using the "old" init"? I'm using sys-apps/openrc-0.2.5 and all seems to work well attached ebuild works for me with sys-apps/openrc-0.2.5 as expected. why isn't it in portage? can you please put this in portage, at least as masked? see also bug #223645 I second that. Without hibernate-script it is possible to hibernate with tuxonice kernels 2.6.25-r7 through 2.6.26. In the worst case someone should remove those kernels from the portage tree since they are currently useless for what they were intended for. This issue also breaks hibernation with tuxonice 2.6.24-r9. Please either remove those kernels (tuxonice 2.6.24 through 2.6.26) from the portage tree or add the new hibernation script. yes please add it to the tree, works here too Hi all, I read that this bug has been opened this year on May and is assigned to mobile@gentoo.org. Since then, four months ago, some people have reported having the same problem (with me too, now), asking the assignnee please to provide hibernate-script-1.99 to the Portage tree. Have anybody read any reply from Mr.Mobile? Do any of you know whether or not any other developer is becoming interested to this issue? Regards, Fabio De Francesco (In reply to comment #13) > Have anybody read any reply from Mr.Mobile? Do any of you know whether or not > any other developer is becoming interested to this issue? mobile@g.o is a team, not a person. I've added myself as maintainer for hibernate-script -- for now it's simple bump, I'll cleanup this package along with stabilization of new version of tuxonice-{userui,sources}. mobile: if you strongly disagree with my decision feel free to contact me. Thanks Pawlik. Really appreciate it. |
