Bug 222013 – Problem with ethernet card r8169

Kernel linux version 2.6.24 have a problem with driver for r8169 ethernet card. This problem is fixed in official tree, but the last stable version of kernel in Gentoo look that don't have the patch for fix this problem.

In Url that demonstrate the problem, in ubuntu launchpad, the problem have the same problem with Asus Laptops A6 Series and explain that is problem of kernel 2.6.24.

I think that last unstable version 2.6.25 work without problems but i haven't check the card with this.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Use a last stable version of kernel
2. Boot the pc
3. If you use dhcpd, dhcpd fail!. The router is OK, the problem is in netcard driver

Actual Results:  
Netcard don't work with static ip 
Netcard don't work with dhcpcd

Expected Results:  
Obtain ip from dhcpd
Find the network with static IP

Antonio,

Can you please apply the patch referenced here[1] to gentoo-sources-2.6.24-r8, compile, install and test the kernel and let me know if this solves your issue.

apply the patch from the kernel source directory via: patch -p1 < patch_name

I have applied the patch to gentoo-sources 2.6.24-r8 and now the netcard work fine, i'm writing this comment with this patched kernel, ;).

Thanks for testing so quickly, Antonio.  In SVN for the next 2.6.24-gentoo-sources release.

Closing as this is fixed in 2.6.25, which we'll hopefully have headed towards stable soon.
