Bug 220945 – x11-base/xorg-server-1.4.0.90-r3 hard locks on low resolutions

When attempting to switch resolutions to 400x300, the X server hangs in an infinite loop taking 99% CPU. This is with the open source radeon driver. I can ssh into my box when this happens, so if there's any info I can gather that way that will help in chasing the cause down I'd be more than happy to.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Make sure you have a 400x300 line in your xorg.conf file in the Screen section.
2. Start X using any method.
3. Use 'switch resolution' hotkeys CTRL-ALT-KP+ or CTRL-ALT-KP- until 400x300 is selected.

Actual Results:  
Screen goes black and keyboard is unresponsive. Ssh'ing in from another box shows X taking 99% CPU.

Expected Results:  
Screen should have redrawn and keyboard should have been responsive.

Which version of the xf86-video-ati driver are you using?

I'm using xf86-video-ati-6.8.0-r1 with -debug +dri.

Could you try updating your system to the latest stable X server (1.5.3-r5) and ati driver (6.12.1-r1).

Don't hesitate to reopen this bug if you can reproduce the issue on an updated system.
