i got the message: if you want to set metacity als window manager set 
export WINDOW_MANAGER="/usr/bin/metacity" 
 
not a big bug more some small make-up

no code in anything fluxbox related that mentions metacity. i guarentee you saw that from something else. in any case, i've been through the flux ebuilds enough lately to know there's still no mention of metacity
