What kind of media are you playing that is slow (something concrete, all of them, etc) - what codec, what container. Please run the following command : gst-launch-0.10 -v playbin uri=file:///full/path/to/file and paste the output here, if you still have the issue. And please attach your full /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
