What is it for and what errors are you getting? Hello! Accoring to the Gentoo Forums, this is a workaround. I really don't know for what this is good. Its only suggested on the gentoo forums, that you need a live cd with CONFIG_UID16 support. I tested this for myself. A liveCD with enabled CONFIG_UID16 works. (tried LFS LiveCD) If its not enabled you get this error, when you try to chroot onto the new uclibc stage 3 environment. livecd / # chroot /mnt/gentoo/ /bin/bash I have no name!@livecd / $ emerge Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/bin/emerge", line 27, in ? import portage File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage.py", line 98, in ? from portage_data import ostype, lchown, userland, secpass, uid, wheelgid, \ File "/usr/lib/portage/pym/portage_data.py", line 83, in ? if secpass < 1 and portage_gid in os.getgroups(): OSError: [Errno 38] Function not implemented What's the URL to the forums post? Do you have any more information you're going to make us beg for? :P I found this: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-545201-highlight-uclibc.html which gave me the hint with CONFIG_UID16 That's all :D Theres is also maybe a second workaround (not tested for myself) http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-667061-highlight-uclibc.html Ah, forget to say :P The Links, which i posted are talking about older versions (like 2006.1). Ofcourse this also aplies to the 2008_beta stages. Is this still needed / relevant? I don't need it anymore, as it was relevant for stage1-install. But stage1-install is not supported anymore ;) (In reply to comment #7) > I don't need it anymore, as it was relevant for stage1-install. But > stage1-install is not supported anymore ;) Thanks for your bug report and my apologies for us taking so long to react to it. I'm closing this bug per your comment. |
