The aacraid module on 1.4rc2 wouldn't even let me unpack stage3 tar ball
without

With 1.4rc4 I was able to unpack stage3 and finish an install

But an emerge -e world resulted in:

The kernel I compiled has everything I enabled as static no modules.

It's pretty much default gentoo-sources, except for:
aacraid
ext3
tg3 (network)

gs-sources-2.4.21_rc2.ebuild

and

ac-sources-2.4.21_rc4-r1.ebuild

both have this problem

Newer versions are in CVS today, will test those
Comment 2 Tim Schafer 2003-06-03 16:10:42 UTC
ac-sources-2.4.21_rc6-r1.ebuild

and

gs-sources-2.4.21_rc6.ebuild

also have the problem

I disabled RAID, and used aic7xxx driver and the problem went away
So I'm possitive it's a problem with aacraid

I will try to get more info so that this bug can be moved upstream
Comment 3 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2003-11-21 13:45:35 UTC
both those kernels have since been removed from portage and should be fixed in newer ones
