I agree. I think that DHCP is more common (thanks to cable modems, DSL, and little home routers), and those who need static IPs can change it. I've been "bitten" by this a few times when doing etc-update. Seems like a more sensible default to me. I agree as well - azarah handles baselayout (which is what owns /etc/conf.d/net), so I am forwarding it to him we're moving to installing a blank net file since the example config is getting to be quite vast (and thus be a huge pita to merge changes) |
