That's a cute one from vapier. I forget the history on it, though. Something dumb I probably did once :P
FYI Martin, you set those two flags wrong to begin with, so this error comes as no surprise. Take a peek at the install guide for the proper format for these variable, which is usually the "long" format of the CHOST (not the shortened form you'll find in other distros). And you only need to set CHOST, really. CBUILD (I don't even know if that's valid?) is probably a cross-target variable, and doesn't need to be set.
