Ebuild submission for athcool.  See URL for program information.  Not sure if
this is considered suitable to actually go into portage, but others might find
it useful.  When idle, my system always stays exactly on 44 degrees C.  10
minutes after enabling this program, it was steady at 34 degrees C.

*grin* i was just going to submit a very similar ebuild for just the same program. i've investigated your ebuild and compared it to mine. they're really very similar. mine does some thing different here and there, and i think it has some advantages over yours, so i'll submit it here, too.
the northbridge-cpu disconnect when in stop-grant only needs to be set on athlons,  so -ppc -alpha -sparc keywords are very misplaced. and since stop-grant is only entered when ACPI is enabled in the kernel, my build has a check for this, too. also opposed to your build i link dynamically to libpci (btw your build doesn't depend on pciutils, mine does).

this initscript is very similar to the one in the original ebuild tar.gz - it
just logs the output to syslog and features additional information on status
request
