When I try and emerge gphoto2, I get the following access violation:

dies with access violation as noted above

a successful emerge

I had the same problem.... I was getting sandbox violations with RPM installed.  I unmerged RPM and it worked without a problem.  Then was able to emerge rpm.

Its a good temp fix =P

Hello, 

I have the same problem, but in my case the compiler complains 
already a bit earlier, but with the same result.

For me removing rpm does not help !
The message about rpm problem is gone, but the error, as shown below
stays : (

Gphoto 2.1.0 had problems with exif support.  Use gphoto-2.1.1 or remove libexif.

i've just bumped the fixed ebuilds to stable now .. try again
