The ebuild integrates xscreensaver modules with gnome-screensaver by automatizing the manual migration process described in the documentation of the latter.

lib should be replaced with $(get_libdir) from multilib.eclass so ~amd64 can be added

if you want to use xscreensaver's screensavers from another ebuild, go for it.. long as it doesn't require additional modifications to xscreensaver itself. keeping it upstream as possible.

Except the people who've seen it on another distro already. By the way, it's just one of the few kinds of stuff that astonish even Apple fans.
