Description Chr. Schaefer 2008-04-06 16:11:30 UTC
Surprisingly I couldn't find any bug for this. Probably it is something that should be enhanced in the installer. After installation from the i686 LiveCD 2008.0 beta1 I get message

* You are using a deprecated configuration syntax for eth0
* You are advised to read /etc/conf.d/net.example and upgrade it accordingly

During installation I just added eth0 with DHCP support, no additional configuration option was done for the networking.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install from LiveCD 2008.0 beta1
2. Boot installed system
3. Watch boot messages

Actual Results:
System complains about deprecated syntax and asks user to upgrade the configuration file it just created.

Expected Results:
Given that I just installed the system I wouldn't have expected any deprecated configuration files.
The networks works though. A newbie should not have to work through /etc/conf.d/net.example even though it is something that is worth to read and learn...

/etc/conf.d/net contains, beside some helpful comments, two lines

iface_eth0="dhcp"
dhcpcd_eth0=""
