Bug 21415

Summary: the install CD should offer ntfsresize
Product: Gentoo Release Media Reporter: Felix von Leitner <felix-gentoo>
Component: EverythingAssignee: Gentoo Release Team <releng>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE
Severity: enhancement CC: mrannanj
Priority: High
Version: unspecified
Hardware: x86
OS: Linux
Whiteboard:
Package list:
Runtime testing required: ---

Description Felix von Leitner 2003-05-21 07:56:51 UTC
nftsresize is part of the ntfsprogs package, and since most PCs these days are
shipped with Windows XP on NTFS covering the whole one IDE disk, it would be a
good idea to ship with ntfsresize on the install CD.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. put in install cd
2. try to resize an NTFS partition ;)
Actual Results:
I could not perform the steps

Expected Results:
I would have expected to be offered a way to resize an NTFS partition.

I agree, I am having real problems installing gentoo on this new laptop, having ntfsresize on the install disk would have saved me several hours of work. I know gentoo is all command-line, but a little more user-friendly would be nice

when ntfs write tools are considered stable, they will be included.

Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
