Beta drivers. Not officially supported. We're waiting for the official ones with 2.6.25 support. (In reply to comment #1) > Beta drivers. Not officially supported. We're waiting for the official ones > with 2.6.25 support. > Well at least you could hardmask it! Support for GF9600 isn't avaiable with older drivers. I've seen other betas bevore in the tree, so why we should wait this time??? Created attachment 147958 [details]
2.6.25 official yet unoffical patch as always :)
Straight from upstream even tho it is unofficial due to 2.6.25 not being supported by them until official release. Once official release is made this patch will become official as always.
*** Bug 216442 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=nvidia_17308&num=1 There is a new beta driver, the "NVIDIA 173.08 Linux Display Driver" which includes the 2.6.25 fix. I request this version of nvidia-drivers be added to portage, even if it is hard masked. It is available for download here: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/173.08/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-173.08-pkg1.run The reason for this request is that the current "stable" revision of nvidia-drivers is broken and does not render some textures correctly in UT2004 and other games. One of the fixes in this beta driver is "Fixed OpenGL rendering corruption with textures compressed using the DXT5 compression algorithm." which should resolve the problem with texture rendering in UT2004. I noticed this morning that 173.08 is added to Portage :D. it is hardmasked, but it is there :D. Thnx for adding, now I can use my 9600GT properly in Linux ;) (and can I remove my own 173.08 ebuild from my local overlay) Why are you commenting on a closed bug and CCing yourself to it? Because there is a change in this bug (the ebuild is added, although the dev said it wasn't going to happen). I thought it was important enough to let everybody know. It is useless to open an new bugreport for it ;). And I cc'ed myself to this bug, so I could follow what happens to this bug without having it to open the bugreport everytime. Nothing further will happen with this bug. This bug references a version that was not added to the tree. Additionally, I said I would not add any beta versions to the tree. However, I am no longer maintaining this package. Chainsaw is. |
