Files was incorrectly deleted from python installation in dev-lang/python-2.4.4-r9
/usr/lib/python2.4/distutils/command/wininst-*.exe
They are required for building package installations.
These binaries included especially because not everyone can build them on
non-windows system, but developers still need to package pure-python extensions.

Why it's RESOLVED INVALID without any reason?
Look at the python documentation:
http://docs.python.org/dist/postinstallation-script.html
> If you have a pure module distribution (only containing pure Python modules and
> packages), the resulting installer will be version independent and have a name
> like foo-1.0.win32.exe. These installers can even be created on Unix or Mac OS
> platforms.

Because you are not using Windows, anything unclear about this?

Comment 3 Michael Dubner 2008-03-07 01:16:27 UTC
This is NOT for using windows, this is for packaging python modules for windows _targets_. This is why I've passed link to documentation and quotation from it.

You are going to discriminate packagers/distributors?

Why don't you argue this on the original bug, thanks.
