Description Brad Laue (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-05-17 07:42:51 UTC
After a review of the options used to compile KDE this morning, I found a
crucial configure option is not used - --enable-final.

Having spent much time with FreeBSD's ports system I can say that ==enable-final
does indeed have a massive impact on the time it takes to build KDE, while
having no effect at all on its runtime performance.

Nevertheless, KDE took 18 hours to build on my 1.2GHz Athlon system, and it was
a traumatic experience indeed. I think it would certainly be a good option to
explore in shortening compile time.
