I'm trying to compile f-spot-0.4.2 (see bug #210335), but it fails, because it requires NDesk.Dbus (ie. dbus-sharp). I'm only able to compile it, after I have set MONO_PATH manually, before I call emerge.

Sounds like a fspot issue to me.  Also, please dont assign and CC.  You should also provide config.log and other output to help determine the cause of the issue.
