Description Paulo da Silva 2008-02-16 21:52:29 UTC
After upgrading from linux-2.6.22-suspend2-r2 to linux-2.6.24-tuxonice-r2 my system stopped recognizing my 2Gb USB storage pen. I needed to manually insert both the modules usb_storage and sd_mod.

Without doing this I get the device unrecognized (fdisk -l). dmesg reports an endless messages list like:
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
...
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 124
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 125
...

I turned around this by putting those modules into /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6

Please test with gentoo-sources and vanilla-sources.

I removed usb_storage and sd_mod from /etc/modules.autoload.d/kernel-2.6 rebooted and the problem seems to have disappeared! In the meanwhile I did several upgrades and changed the kernel to *-r3 version. I don't know what fixed the problem however.

So, please close the bug. I'll be back if I find something wrong again.

Thanks.
