it is a heavily modified zlib, not the vanilla version

there's no need for security, the bundled version is perfectly up to date

that tracker states that the bundle is "unnecessary" ... as documented here, it is necessary in rsync

The "unnecessarily" was meant regarding static link, not bundling, sorry.
