Description Sebastian 2008-02-05 13:39:27 UTC
Hi all,

I had a hard time printing the cups test page. Looking around the web I found that Red Hat already supplied a workaround (they also reported it upstream).

It'd be nice to have the fix in portage. :-)

Regards
Sebastian

Reproducible: Always

I tried the patch with 2.7.12 and it fixed the issue here (x86).

Comment 2 Sebastian 2008-02-15 13:01:12 UTC
Update: Apparently they fixed it in hplip-2.8.2:

HPLIP 2.8.2 - This release has the following changes:
...
3. Fixed segmentation fault resulting from buffer overflow in compression.cpp
...

The patch is a little different than the RedHat patch. I didn't try 2.8.2 myself yet.
Comment 3 Denis Dupeyron (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-04-04 14:42:26 UTC
hplip-2.8.2 is now in the tree and should fix this. Please test and report back.

Denis.

Sorry, can't test. Don't have access to a HP printer anymore.
