Description Jan Mentzenl 2003-05-12 15:50:39 UTC
related to bug #20318 ...

I use ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" in my /etc/make.conf but there would still
python-2.2.2 be installed by default instead of the fixed version (python-2.2.2-r1) as
mentioned at the end of the #20318:

>i've committed a python-2.2.2-r1 with the fix that you have there, Stanislav.
>
>it is currently masked and marked unstable for all archs, although i'm pretty sure
>there will be no problems with it. it'll probably be unmasked in 2 days time and
>live in unstable until tcl/tk-8.4.x is marked as stable.

Fortunately the python-2.2.2-r1.ebuild file was there, so I could update back to
python2.2.2-r1 manually with a
$ emerge /usr/portage/dev-lang/python/python-2.2.2-r1.ebuild

But the 2.2.2 is still seems to be used by default:

$ emerge rsync
(syncing with http://www.coldmoon.net)
$ emerge -up world

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating world dependencies ...done!
...
[ebuild    UD] dev-lang/python-2.2.2 [2.2.2-r1]
...

but there is installed tk8.4.2 by default:
$ emerge search ^tk$
...
*  dev-lang/tk
      Latest version available: 8.4.2
...

If I had updated (downward) to python-2.2.2 whith
$ emerge -u world
e.g. sketch and other tkinter-using apps would't work any longer (#20318).

$ emerge info
Portage 2.0.47-r10 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.2.2, glibc-2.3.2-r1)
