First, qdepends doesn't seem to recognize the -Q option when prefixed by -C option.
Second, look at the different output of qdepends, when using "-QC" or "-Q -C". I supposed to get the same output...

Ah, I forgot to mention that when I use "qdepends -QC <pkg>" or "qdepends -Q -C <pkg>" I get colored output despite -C flag being set.

The -Q takes options. So -Q -C would see the '-C' as a regexp string vs actually trying to disable color. Try -CQ <cat/pkg> 

Note:
 -Q, --query    <arg> * Query reverse deps
