Bug 207988

Summary: Rebuilding from scratch, I want to add 'kdm' but I get a daunting list of mutually blocked KDE packages.
Product: Gentoo Linux Reporter: Kevin O'Gorman <kogorman>
Component: [OLD] KDEAssignee: Gentoo KDE team <kde>
Status: RESOLVED INVALID

Description Kevin O'Gorman 2008-01-29 04:37:48 UTC
Emerge -a kdm results in big blockage: kdebase is blocking a bunch of other KDE packages, which in turn are blocking kdebase. Currently, emerge -aDNvu world, revdep-rebuild and depclean are all up-to-date. The existing KDE stuff was pulled in by the single 'world' file entry kde-base/kdegames.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Build from scratch, using my world file
2.Emerge kdm
3.

Actual Results:
blockage

Expected Results:
emergence

You're mixing split & monolithic ebuilds. Find out what tries to install the monolithic ebuild (kde-base/kdebase:kde-4), using emerge --tree, and install the split equivalent.
