There is a new release, which involves a lot of bugfix and new features.
Here comes the shortlog between 0.5.2 and 0.5.4

-Enchanced CD and DVD title/track support
-Updated translations
-Support for Gnome Multimedia keys
-Several UI Updates
-Longer URL support

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. just rename the ebuild to gnome-mplayer-0.5.4
2. emerge it
3.




Portage has an ebuild for 0.5.2. Renaming the ebuild to 0.5.4 works fine.

Just an additiaonal note.

1. gnome-mplayer  (versions 0.5.3 and 0.5.4) do NOT require 
    libgnome-2 or libgnomeui-2

2. emerge -pv libgnome libgnomeui
       <snip>
[ebuild  N    ] gnome-base/libbonoboui-2.20.0  USE="X doc -debug" 0 kB 
[ebuild  N    ] gnome-base/libgnomeui-2.20.1.1  USE="doc jpeg -debug" 0 kB

3. ~% gnome-mplayer -v
GNOME MPlayer v0.5.4
vo = x11,xv ao = alsa
Using match: type='signal',interface='com.gnome.mplayer'
Using match: type='signal',interface='org.gnome.SettingsDaemon'
Proxy connections and Command connected

4. I installed gnome-mplayer via cvs and it runs 'fine'.

If you don't have gnome on you system, then gconf must be merged in to get it to compile.

Output from ./configure

checking for GCONF... configure: error: Package requirements (gconf-2.0) were not met:

No package 'gconf-2.0' found

Why do you want to use gnome-mplayer if you don't have gnome installed? :)
For example there are other mplayer gui-s for KDE.
If I am not wrong, Xfce also have gconf installed.

1. It works w/ gecko-mediaplayer, which is far superior to mplayerplug-in -- in fact gnome-mplayer and gecko-mediaplayer are written by the same person who wrote mplayerplug-in.

2. The name gnome-mplayer is really a misnomer.  The only 'gnome' package that is needed is gconf.

3. I don't have either gnome or kde on my system -- fluxbox or e16.

4. gecko-mediaplayer and gnome-mplayer work well with Opera and Firefox.

5. The backend is mplayer which is superior to the gxine, vlc backend -- you need all the help you can get w/ a 400Mhz Cpu.

I don't run Xfce. Even if I did, both gecko-mediaplayer and gnome-mplayer have a dependency on gconf so it should be included in the .ebuild

I didn't know that.

The GNOME team does not maintain gnome-mplayer. If assigning directly to a team instead of bugwranglers, please check the metadata first. Reassigning to the correct team. Feel free to CC us if input from the gnome team if sought.
